Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.

~ Buddha

The Ogdoad turn up in Chinese myth, in early Egyptian religious texts, and even in much later Viking legend, where the gods of the Aesir were said to have abandoned the Sacred Mountain after the Flood. From the Ogdoad, who were the first Dragon god-kings of ancient proto-Scythia, we obtain the gods of the Anunnaki, and those later pantheons that derived from them. It is not to be doubted that after the Flood the children of the Anunnaki had established incredible civilisations in their time, so I suppose you could say that the cultures of the Sumerians (whose language, termed “proto-Sumerian,” originated in Transylvania), the Egyptians and even the early settlers in northern Europe stemmed from and reflect an antediluvian prototype, a much older pre-Flood “Golden Age” presided over by the ancient Dragon god-kings and goddess-queens. The mistake would be to put the Atlantean period too far back in time and to locate Atlantis where Plato did. Scientists have proved the Biblical Flood to be in the Black Sea and this region is where most of the Titanic and Olympian sagas, associated with the Dawn of the Gods, unfold.

~ HRH Prince Nicholas de Vere

The word “dragon” is derived from the Greek “edrakon,” which is an aorist of the word “derkesthai,” which means “to see clearly”. Clear sight also and principally refers to transcendent consciousness. I believe de Vere was rather prescient in his writings for the Dragon is back! China, the land of the Dragon, has recently shown success in their latest Chang’e 5 moon mission, gathering samples and returning them to earth. Chang’e-5 is one of the most complicated and challenging missions in China’s aerospace history as it touched down on the north of the Mons Rumker in Oceanus Procellarum, also known as the Ocean of Storms, on the near side of the moon on December 1.

A commentary by Xinhua on the moon mission said it is regrettable to see that some major countries are pushing forward controversial accord that allows signatories or companies to create exclusive “safety zones” on the Moon, and adopting strategies to accelerate the militarisation of space. Any of such self-dealing efforts to pursue space hegemony should be firmly rejected. What a fine example of clear seeing and Dragon Dreaming indeed…

This reminds me of a certain head of an elite occult order with origins stretching back to the Knights Templar who invited me to join this very organization. I declined the offer but I also genuinely believe that being granted Syrian citizenship is worth more than any royal title in the world. After Palmyra was recaptured from IS militants, Valery Gergiev — a renown Russian conductor — performed at Palmyra’s Roman Theatre with the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra from St Petersburg. Only a few months before that, IS had posted footage online showing some of its fighters carrying out killings in the ancient theatre. A true Dragon can understand the true spiritual significance of these events due to their natural ability to tune out canned chatter of corporate Goebbels-like propaganda machine along the lines of The New York Times, The Economist, Fox News, CNN, The Guardian and their lemming readership/viewers.

In this edition, we got a lot of poems with lunar themes to commemorate Chang’e 5 moon mission. But what’s Moon without Sun? As a matter of fact, Sun and Moon represent the foundation of hermetic symbolism. In Atalanta Fugiens illustrations, a craftsperson is operating on a Sun/man and a Moon/woman inside a circle, thus our outlook is narrowed on those two, or three, salts necessary to achieve Philosophical Egg. In fact little is the difference between them.

This brings us to I Am the Morning Sun by Franc Jabier Rodriguez, our regular (and always brilliant) contributor. It’s been a pleasure to publish this alchemical ode to the Sun Path.
